Clarence Drive is a magnificent scenic coastal drive between the windswept hamlet of Rooi-Els and the naval town of Gordons Bay, which nestles in the north-eastern crook of False Bay in the shadow of the Hottentots Hollands Mountains. This beautiful, coastal drive stretches between the two towns over 22 km, hugging the wild turquoise Cape coastline all the way. It offers some excellent coastal scenery and mountain back-drops!! Ample off-road parking spots allow one to get-out and close-up to the scenery for excellent photographic opportunities.
Once past the hamlet of Rooiels we will travel on to the coastal town of Betty’s Bay to visit the penguin colony at Stoney Point and the Harold Porter Botanical Gardens. Here we will stop for a lunch break and just enjoy the stunning scenery in the gardens while enjoying refreshments.
Afterwards we travel on to the town of Kleinmond to visit the harbour and experience the thrill of catch as we watch the fishermen bring in the day’s catch! After this venture we take a slow drive back to Somerset West while all along the way we take opportunities to photograph the scenery in the setting sun!!
