Steenbras Nature Reserve is a newly proclaimed conservation site declared by the City of Cape Town and is part of the famous Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve. It is situated directly behind the well-known Kogel Bay Resort on the slopes of the mountains along Clarence Drive. This beautiful area provides excellent photographic opportunities both early in the morning during sunrise as well as in the golden hour towards sunset. Fantastic bird life, beautiful flowers and the occasional Klippringer abounds.
CapeXposure has arranged special permission to access this beautiful site that overlooks the Kogel Bay. This tour is an easy valley traverse taking guests on a lovely 2,5 km through spectacular Fynbos and slightly up the mountain for awesome sunset views over the area and ocean. Mountains surrounds’ one in a huge arc, creating a beautiful valley and basin bordered by the see to the south. On days when the South-Easter wind blows just right, huge billowing orographic clouds rolls over the mountains creating a powerful sight! Along the walk Andreas will share the history and special features of this area while Steve will be pointing out interesting photographic opportunities. During the height of the flowering season is a perfect time for practicing your macro photography.After the photographic excursions we will return to base where Steve will facilitate an assessment session critiquing the day’s work providing feedback on the photographs taken. We will end the day with refreshments while saying goodbye.
